How Dressing Matters In an Interview

You feel the jitters in your belly at the sound of an interview. On a list of human interactions that are meant to judge you as a person, Interview comes first and a date comes second.

You keep asking, “What do I wear for an interview?”

Rules of dressing for an Interview

  1. Rule 1- Dress to Not Kill: Dressing up formally is always appreciated. Even if an interviewer is dressed casually, it never harms to show up formally dressed.
  2. Rule 2 – Groom thyself: An interview takes into consideration a lot of things than just your educational qualifications and your aptitude for the job. So make sure you have your nails and your hair fixed up well.
  3. Rule 3 – Shiny Shoes, shiny impression: Quite often we underestimate the importance of polishing our shoes, and yet appreciate those who always turn up with the shiniest pair of kicks. Polish your shoes before an interview as it gives out an impression you pay attention to the details.
  4. Rule 4 – Cover your tattoos: Though tattoos are now considered to be common worldwide, you would not want the course of the interview circling around your tattoo choices. In order to avoid that conversation altogether, try to hide your tattoo under your sleeve, etc.
  5. Rule 5 – Wear good cologne: When you wear subtle cologne, it blends well with your personality. Colognes really make an impact so make sure you don’t miss out on it.
