Coal India Limited Recruitment 2019

Coal India Limited (CIL) is a public sector undertaking of the Ministry of Coal, Government of India. This is the single largest coal-producing company worldwide. CIL is the world’s largest corporate employer with over 3 lac employees. Additionally, it is India’s second largest employer with nearly 280,000 staff strength, of which 18,000 are at executive posts.

In spite of India being on the edge of recession where slowing economy is heading toward manpower reduction, CIL is recruiting nearly 9,000 employees to fill vacant positions, whereas in 2018, only 1200 vacancies were filled.

Reasons behind the recruitment program

CIL was established in 1975; over the last 44 years, nearly 12,300 employees have reached their retirement days. This has increased the rate of vacant positions. To compensate and keep the success rate on track, CIL aims at the largest recruitment program to ensure strong workforce. 

Job-based distribution

Of these 9,000, nearly 4,000 posts will account for executive cadre posts. This will be so far the largest on-boarding drive by CIL. The holding company hires executives, workers and other technical employees are hired by CIL’s eight current subsidiaries.

Nearly 2300 recruitments would be fulfilled according to CIL’s policy of offering jobs to people and their family members or relatives who had to leave their land due to CIL’s various projects. On the other hand, nearly 900 employees would be recruited through advertisements and personal interviews at junior/entry level posts and 400 would be through campus recruitment and educational/hiring fairs. Medical officers, technicians, etc.would fulfil 100 posts.

As of September 2019, CIL has recruited nearly 480 executives, mainly doctors. Further, CIL will hire over 2,200 added executives based on competitive exams.
